As the Big Ten tournament approaches, Michigan basketball will face Indiana, and here are three keys to the Wolverines and a prediction.

The playoffs officially arrive for the Michigan basketball team on Thursday as the Wolverines open the Big Ten tournament as the No. 8 seed against No. 9 Indiana.

The winner will face Illinois on Friday in the quarterfinals, but more importantly, the winner will also add a key win to their NCAA resume.

Many people think Michigan basketball clinched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament with its victory over Ohio State, which was the Wolverines’ 11th in Big Ten play and 17th overall.

While the total number of wins doesn’t seem impressive, five of them are against quad-1 teams and Michigan also has three quad-2 wins. What stands out the most is that 12 of the 13 losses have come against the top two quadrants, with the only bad loss coming to Minnesota.

Always, Joe Lunardi has Michigan basketball as the No. 10 seed right now and as one of the last four teams to get a first-round bye, which means avoiding the top four at Dayton.

Indiana is the first team out right now, so the Hoosiers have a lot to play for. Michigan, on the other hand, should also be motivated. A loss will leave the Wolverines closer to the bubble than expected and Indiana has been terrible lately, so it wouldn’t be a good loss at all.

And Michigan basketball fans, players and coaches don’t want to sweat the next few days. Either way, we’ll break down this match and offer a prediction, but first, here’s an overview of the odds.

Michigan Basketball vs. Indiana Odds

According to the ratings of WynnBET, Michigan basketball is a three-point favorite against the Hoosiers on Thursday in Indianapolis. The over/under is 136 and the money line is -150 for Michigan and +125 for Indiana.

Prediction Michigan Basketball vs Indiana

The Wolverines should have some momentum and Hunter Dickinson and Juwan Howard are back (assuming Dickinson has overcome his stomach flu). Dickinson dominated Game 1 against Indiana and he will have to play the same way, especially against Trayce Jackson-Davis.

The Hoosiers aren’t dead yet but in terms of doing the big dance so Michigan basketball can’t ignore Indiana and I don’t think they will.

It would be great for this team to get another shot against Illinois in the quarterfinals and I’m having a hard time seeing Indiana pull together to take down the Wolverines.

DeVante Jones has been spectacular and I expect guys like Eli Brooks and Dickinson to step up their playoff games, which begin with a 79-70 win over the Hoosiers.
