AUGUSTA, Ga. — The most wonderful time of the golf season arrives Thursday as April beauty surrounds the Augusta National Golf Club. Although the skies may have been a little darker than usual at the start of the week – the rain was constant for the first few days, with practice rounds canceled on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon – there is no doubt that the 2022 Masters should be another star-studded affair.

The packed course that Augusta faces this week features most of the best golfers in the world. Hideki Matsuyama defends the green jacket, while most others on the field look to join him as a first-time winner by the time the final round unfolds on Sunday.

CBS Sports provides extensive week-long coverage across all of its platforms with its traditional 18-hole broadcast coverage starting with the third round on Saturday and final round action on Sunday. Jim Nantz, in his 37th consecutive year covering the Masters, serves as host for the 35th time. Three-time Masters champion Sir Nick Faldo, 26 after his third win in the green jacket, joins Nantz in the 18th round as senior analyst. Nantz and Faldo are joined by CBS Sports’ incredible golf team, as detailed below.

Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith and Scottie Scheffler lead the rankings, according to Caesars Sportsbook, with none of the four having previously claimed a green jacket. The most notable name not on the court, of course, is Phil Mickelson, while Tiger Woods believes he will play with an announcement likely to arrive on Wednesday.
