Haivision will acquire Aviwest | television technology

MONTREAL—Haivision is acquiring AVIWEST ​​SAS, a provider of IP-based mobile video contribution systems. Haivision adds that Aviwest will expand its portfolio of video contribution solutions to address the growing market for high-quality live video content in broadcast, sports and live event production. The transaction, valued at US$23 million (C$29.6 million), is expected to close within 30 days.

Haivision provides low latency “wired” broadcast video networks, while Aviwest provides low latency wireless broadcast video networks. Haivision says the combined company will help the company target demand for low-latency video contribution in wireless technology, bringing patented mobile network (5G/4G cellular) and network bonding capabilities to its portfolio.

Founded in 2008, Aviwest boasts several “world first” innovations: portable cellular video transmission, live video transmission over a 4G network implementing QoS, and 4K live video transmission over a 5G network. Aviwest also received two Emmy Awards for its SST networking technology for reliable transmission of video over bonded networks.

Aviwest’s products are found in the facilities of hundreds of broadcasters, television stations and production houses around the world that use Aviwest technology in their daily coverage of sports and other live events. Aviwest solutions are also widely used to support major international sporting events. Based in Rennes (Saint-Grégoire), France, Aviwest has over 70 employees with field operations around the world.
